World of Warcraft Item Upgrades Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and boost additional stats. The level of an item is a commonly used measurement of power and can be seen on all tooltips of items. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players can use since PvP is not available at lower levels. The average level of the item can be found in the character sheet. When deciding to purchase or sell equipment players can evaluate the item level. It's a sign of the damage and its quality. Comparing items in the inventory of a seller can be done by using the item's level. On PC, you can view the item level by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete item description, including its level. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat. There are many theories about how the level of an item is calculated. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula which calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It is based on the fact that different benefits are valued differently and that gems found in sockets boost the value of the item. This could result in a calculated item's ilvl that is usually very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item. However, this isn't the only factor that affects an item's ilvl, because the level of the area the item is dropped into can change the value of its stats, such as by adding an additional level to its haste rating or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl. Item Stats The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. Another method to alter the stats on an item is through affixes. item upgrades are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and they come in all shapes and sizes. All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other options for rerolling. In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats determined by the item's level. Item Luck The Luck stat of a player boosts the probability of obtaining items, the properties that are generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. However, it does not, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player a possibility to obtain better equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more useful in the initial game run as opposed to later ones, because most players value greater weapon scaling and defense over the raw damage gain. In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability that increases with each level and can be further enhanced through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing. Weapons, shields, and armor can be made or spawn with the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck or to increase the luck of the item to 140. Certain items, such as the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be crafted to increase the damage dealt by any skill that is able to deal damage by 5percent. These items are available in the shop or crafted using the right ingredients. Item Failure Not all upgrades work. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to boost their success rate or prevent themselves from losing an item if the upgrade fails. When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The chance of success can only be increased so high, and the probability that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%. The luck of an item may affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has a success rate of 25 percent, and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5%. It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory therefore enchantment glints and other effects may be masked by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
